BOUMORT

Come and live, feel, observe and hear the deer rutting: a unique experience. In September and October –this specie’s rutting season–, the adult males make very characteristic guttural sounds, called the bellow, in order to mark their territory and catch the attention of the females in heat.

Our country house hotel is very well situated to enjoy Boumort and the roar of the deer.

The roaring season begins in mid-September and lasts until mid-October. During this time, the dominant individuals develop an intense instinct to keep the harem together. Therefore, during this period, they constantly chase one another and fight other competing males, causing exhaustion at the end of the mating season.

Deer rutting in Boumort mountain is a really amazing spectacle, but if you don’t know the area, aren’t used to observing wildlife or don’t have the right optical equipment, Boumort National Game Reserve offers extra information services during the weekends and holidays that coincide with the deer rut, between mid-September and mid-October. In the areas that have panoramic views of the Reserve, a guide will help you with the deer watching, especially at the beginning and the end of the day. 4×4 vehicles required (private or taxis).

This autumn, we have prepared a weekend package to enjoy  the deer rutting of Boumort .
